On International Literacy Day, the Houston Local Organizing Committee celebrated the launch of a meaningful elementary literacy program that will impact the future of thousands of children in Houston.

During the fun-filled launch pep rally at the Houston Public Library, 350 students, along with their chaperones, experienced an interactive program geared toward literacy and education, teasing what students will experience at their schools this fall.

Through spring of 2023, more than 39,000 Houston-area third graders across eleven school districts will take part in this incredible program. Participating school districts include Stafford MSD, Crosby ISD, Channelview ISD, Cleveland ISD, Alvin ISD, Spring ISD, Alief ISD, Pasadena ISD, Aldine ISD, Cy-Fair ISD, and Houston ISD.

Ultimately, this exciting initiative would not be possible without the support of our school district superintendents and community leaders. Special thanks to Dr. Rhea Brown Lawson, Executive Director of Houston Public Library, for your fantastic hospitality in hosting this tremendous event.
