On July 26, 2023, two iconic global teams, Real Madrid and Manchester United faced off in NRG Stadium in the Soccer Champions Tour. This exciting match was another great addition to Houston’s summer of soccer! 

Prior to the matchup, the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) and FIFA World Cup 26™ Houston showed Manchester United press contingency around Shell Energy Stadium and Minute Maid Park. This visit served as an opportunity to showcase the HCHSA and the region as a premier destination for sporting events and highlight the upcoming soccer tournaments coming to the city, namely the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Janis Burke, HCHSA CEO, and Chris Canetti, Houston 2026 World Cup Committee President, were thrilled to meet with the group and show them everything Houston has to offer!
